ESRC and Horizon 2020 Success for the Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change in the School of Education

We are delighted to announce that the Robert Owen Centre within the School of Education has won two new major research projects, both led by Oscar Valiente.

The first, Policies Supporting Young Adults in their Life Course. A Comparative Perspective of Lifelong Learning and Inclusion in Education and Work in Europe (YOUNG_ADULLLT).  The project is led by the University of Munster and includes partners from a range of other countries; the total award is 2.5M€ with around €400k coming to the Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change at Glasgow. Michele Schweisfurth, Kevin Lowden, Kristinn Hermannsson and others will be working on this project.

The second project, Governing the educational and labour market trajectories of secondary TVET graduates in Chile and has been awarded by the ESRC – Newton Fund for UK/Chile collaborative research and innovation The total award is £320k with £234k for University of Glasgow and the remaining to Universidad Alberto Hurtado. In addition to Oscar the research team members are Andy Furlong, Daniel Leyton (University of Sussex), Leandro Sepulveda (Universidad Alberto Hurtado), Maria Jose Valdebenito (Universidad Alberto Hurtado).

Other recent successes within the Centre include Andy Furlong’s award of an Australian Research Council Project and the part-time secondment of Centre Director, Chris Chapman to the Scottish Government as Senior Advisor to the Scottish Attainment Challenge.
